As overdose deaths climbed and the world became more aware of the opioid crisis America placed an understandable focus on preventing deaths due to overdose; however, we fear that this shift has ignored the need to treat opioid dependence and the role that this treatment should play in both prevention of and recovery from opioid use disorders and opioid misuse. With this in mind, InDependence was formed to be an advocacy group that could work with, but was not dependent upon, our partners.
InDependence.org has been created to focus specifically on education and advocacy for the treatment opioid dependence and to ensure that patients have access to safe and effective options for the treatment of opioid dependence and withdrawal.
The staff of InDependence have a strong connection with the military and for our first initiative we are launching the Veteran Independence Project with the goal of providing treatment options for at least 100 veterans in the state of North Carolina. Follow us here to learn more about the current project and it's expansion throughout the U.S.
